Since I’ve been blogging fairly regularly, I’ve started to discover some really helpful and insightful blogs. I know a few days ago I linked a post from Kristen Lamb, but I’m going to link it again. I’m so impressed with her “togetherness,” not only with writing, but with life. Here is her blog.
One of the things she does, and that I know I need to do, is plan out her week with something she found in that book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I guess I’m going to have to read that one of these days. Anyway, I found a Google app called Week Plan and it goes along with the 7 Habits system. You have different roles in your life and different goals for each role, and different tasks that help you achieve these goals, etc. I planned out next week, and I did today and tomorrow as well. So far I’ve been fairly productive. See, I’m making sure I blogged today!
I will let you all know how it goes. Ideally I will either get 10,000 words in a week, or whatever the editing equivalent is, since I’m getting my edits next Thursday. This is in addition to my freelance article writing. Ambitious, yes. But one of the things that really spoke to me is when you feel like you haven’t accomplished anything, you feel overwhelmed, thus making you goals seem harder to reach and your tasks huge, and then you feel depressed. That leads to procrastination, etc. I’m telling you, this woman speaks to me.
Let’s see if I can handle a week of planning, shall we?
